Types of Massage

Remedial – all of our therapists are trained in remedial massage and are able to undertake an assessment of the causes of your pain and discomfort in specific areas. We have particular expertise in neck and upper back pain; TMJ (jaw related pain); lower back pain; sporting or repetitive injuries; and postural related soft tissue dysfunction.
Pregnancy – Seddon seems to have an ever increasing number of prams and pregnant ladies. Seddon Therapies has been massaging these "mums to be" since our establishment in 2003. We are now well equipped with a pregnancy pillow to allow all expectant mums to lay face down in a “normal” massage position. Treatment can either be for relaxation or to relieve back ache, increase venous return or decrease swelling and fluid retention. Our therapists are confident and competent and are able to quickly adapt for a small number of ladies who prefer a treatment either sidelying or in a seated position.
Therapeutic – a combination of techniques from relaxation and remedial massage in a generally relaxed session that also “works over” some of the more tight and stressed areas such as shoulders or lower back.
Sports – our therapists all have extensive experience in treating a large range of sporting clientele. Massage for sports people has varied purposes including deep tissue treatment for athletes in heavy training in order to prevent injury; lighter stimulating massage for pre-event treatments; post event treatment which aims to stimulate lymphatic flow and decrease the effect of lactic acid build up, enabling the athlete to recover and resume training more quickly.
Relaxation – suitable for anyone just requiring time out. Relaxation massage will allow your mind and body to relax for as long as you are in our clinic. Whilst experiencing deep relaxation, the massage will also aid your sense of well being by increasing the performance of your lymphatic system, increasing blood flow and loosening your muscles and joints.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage – A very powerful, but gentle technique that stimulates the lymphatic system. This technique can be used for most types of swelling and oedema (including bruising following sporting or contact injuries), lymphodeama and fluid retention problems. Full body treatments are available, however not all therapists specialize in this technique, so please let us know at the time of booking if you require this treatment.
