Frequently Asked Massage Questions
Will I be fully clothed during treatment?
You may remain fully clothed if desired, however for the most effective massage treatment, it is advisable to allow the therapist to directly treat the area to be massaged. This will allow for the desired lubrication to be applied enabling all required massage techniques. Areas not being massaged will remain covered.
Your therapist will take all care to drape appropriately and maintain modesty in all cases. If you are not comfortable with disrobing please discuss other options with your therapist.
What sort of medical history is required?
A brief medical history will be required to enable the therapist to gain a thorough understanding of your general health and possible issues and causes of any discomfort. Some conditions may also be contraindicated to massage.
What if the pressure of the massage is too hard or too soft?
Please discuss your required level of pressure with your therapist. Your massage is for your benefit and should be tailored to your needs and preferences. The aim of the massage is not to inflict unnecessary pain, but should be at a level of comfort for each client.
Is a referral required?
Referral for massage is not generally required, although clients being treated under WorkSafe must have current referrals and claim numbers prior to making appointments.
Can I claim on Medicare or Private Health Cover?
Most major private health funds provide rebates for remedial massage and myotherapy treatments. Massage is not however covered by Medicare.
What are the qualifications of the therapists?
All massage therapists at Seddon Therapies are required to hold a minimum of Diploma of Remedial Massage or higher. They are all committed to continuing their massage education and gaining more knowledge to better serve our clientele.
